Northwood University will assess each student’s unique situation prior to any transfers or transitions.
YES! There are options available for dependents given what they are interested in for online or on-campus offerings. For example, Northwood University has established exclusive tuition scholarships for law enforcement and public safety team members children who are interested in pursuing their education on Northwood University’s beautiful campus in Midland, MI.
Each student varies, however the maximum amount a student can transfer in is 90 semester credit hours or 75% of a bachelor’s degree. Candidates can automatically transfer in 30 semester credits towards their bachelor’s degree given their extensive MCOLES. Further work life and professional training can be transferred as well.
Students who leave during an active course are subject to Northwood’s withdrawal policies for law enforcement and public safety sectors students.
Depending on the pathway and program you enroll in based on your work/life experience and former education, Northwood’s programs can result in you earning a Bachelor of Science degree (BS), a Master of Science (MS), or a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA).
Students who withdraw from the program and are in good standing (2.0 GPA or above) must reapply after 12 months. Students who withdraw for a 5-year period must complete the degree requirements of the current catalog.
Yes, as a law enforcement and public safety team member, any tuition support you are eligible for given your rank will be directly applied to your student account/balance.

Yes, Northwood University is fully accredited by The Higher Learning Commission.
We encourage all students to apply for Financial Aid to maximize any and all grant monies available at the state and federal levels, thus lowering your out of pocket expenses. You can do so online by completing a FAFSA application. All federal grants will be applied toward tuition.
You can continue your education at Northwood University; however, you will revert to the standard university tuition rates. Each semester all participants will be approved by the candidate’s department to confirm they are in good standing with the department.
Yes, these programs were designed with working law enforcement and public safety employees in mind and include access to tutoring, advising, and student support services. In addition, students will have access to career counseling and placement services throughout the duration of their program and for life once they earn their degree from Northwood University.

Yes! In fact, those who complete their undergraduate degree through this program have an accelerated pathway to the Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership.
There are two classes per each semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Fall and Spring classes are 8 or 16 weeks long and Summer classes are 6 or 12 weeks long. Some courses require a full semester and are not available in a 6 or 8 week format. Some examples of this are ACC 2410 and MTH 1150.
Prior learning is the process by which law enforcement and public safety sector employees will receive prior learning credit(s) through Northwood’s proprietary Credit for Prior Learning process which maximizes transfer credits, reduces costs, and decreases time toward degree completion. Prior learning including transfer credits, credit by exemption, experiential credits, and professional training will be evaluated for college-level credit and applied toward your undergraduate degree.
